Shock absorption materials are designed to take impact energy and reduce the force transferred to a part or object. They can help prevent dents or damage caused by drops, collisions, or other types of impact.
Because shock absorption performance can vary widely, it's important to evaluate:
Compression and Recovery. These materials must compress and be able to return to their original thickness. This is critical for applications where the material is subjected to repeat impacts or pressure.
Temperature and Environment. Different elastomers, foams, and plastics have distinct temperature limits. A material that's ideal at room temperature may become brittle or lose strength depending on the environment.
Performance Characteristics and Specifications. As with any material considerations should be given to environmental factors such as resistance to oil, alkalis, and other chemicals, temperature exposure range, environmental conditions, or other application specific needs. Many of these materials meet common industry standards such as AMS, ASTM, FDA, MIL, and more.
From protecting internal components during drops to controlling automotive buzz, rattle, and vibration, Rapid Die Cut helps project teams bring better products to market.
